Uduak Oduok

Uduak Inyang Oduok is the founding attorney of FASHIONENTLAW, a Sacramento-based firm advising clients in fashion law, entertainment law, media law, and intellectual property. She was admitted to the State Bar of California on December 3, 2001, holds bar number 215096, and is an active licensee in good standing ^[1]. She is also admitted before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ^[2]. Oduok earned her Juris Doctor from UC Law San Francisco, formerly UC Hastings College of the Law, and also studied at Georgetown Law Center ^[2]. A former fashion model, she launched the first Fashion Law Seminars at San Francisco Fashion Week in 2005 and created and taught the first fashion law course in California State University, Sacramento's Business of Fashion Program ^[2]. Her practice covers contracts, trademark and copyright licensing, brand protection, and business and intellectual property litigation in California courts, with cross-border work involving the African music industry and the Afrobeats sector ^[2]. She has written more than 11,000 articles on legal and business issues in the creative industries, founded the Africa Music Law platform, and has spoken at Harvard Law School, the Wharton School, and SXSW ^[2]. She has been recognized by the National Bar Association, honored by the California State Senate ^[2], and serves as a board member and vice president of California Lawyers for the Arts.
